It is week 2 of the One Room Challenge and I was planning to show my design board as well as some room progress, however we have had a major issue and everything is changing. I really wanted an eclectic glam vibe that didn't scream 'baby' and that we would enjoy spending time in. This is what I originally came up with and I was pretty darn excited.
When I found the rug on Rugs USA I was really excited because I loved the colors and my husband really liked it too. My husband was pretty adamant that the room not be full of pink, and since we have a very pink 1950's bathroom right across the hall I decided to oblige. The rug arrived this week and it was a total bummer! The colors were darker than in the picture, the pile was super messy, and worst of all was the smell. I know that wool has a natural smell, but this was beyond what I could handle and my husband even agreed. Since this is the baby's room I didn't want to take the risk of letting the rug air out and then not being able to return it if the smell didn't go away. So the rug goes back and I just re-designed the room and went in a totally different direction.
I bought an amazing hand painted chinoiserie panel (similar to the one in the board) a couple of months ago with the intention of using it in the nursery. Then I went on this boho nursery design kick so it was sidelined. Well, after some design brainstorming I decided to bring it back, and since we are going with greys and greens as the main color palette my husband is on board! I am using a Dash and Albert woven chenille rug that is soft and cozy, and I am sticking with the original stencil plan since I really like how it adds a more modern twist to the room.
I am actually really happy with how the room is coming together, and now I need to order everything so that it all arrives in time! I also need to figure out how on earth to mount the chinoiserie panel on a board and hang it on the wall (it is over 10 feet tall so it will need to be trimmed). Next week I will share some fun pictures of my trip to one of my favorite fabric stores to pick out curtains, and hopefully I will have paint colors picked out!
Make sure to check out all of the other awesome ORC's posts and see everyone' week 2 progress!
